Tattoo aftercare is crucial and is the most important thing you must after your trip to the tattoo artist. Presented below are a few tips for proper tattoo care of your freshly minted tattoo.
You finally went through getting a tattoo after a dare, or to prove your commitment for a loved one, or whatever. I know you thing it looks great and I’m sure it does but you have to take care of your skin, especially for the next couple of days. Many people forget about tattoo aftercare because they are so excited about the getting the tattoo, a sort of tattoo euphoria of getting one. You can still enjoy showing off your new tat to your friends but in the long run, proper tattoo care will keep your skin healthy and increased the years of visibility of the permanent tattoo.

Tips on Tattoo Aftercare:

•  Your tattoo artist knows what you have to do after you get a tattoo. Listen to them. Most artists have a list of do’s and don’ts for tattoo aftercare. Make sure you listen to their rules or list of aftercare tips and follow them on a daily basis. Some days you may need to have the tattooed area bandaged in order to prevent it from being infected. I can’t stress this enough always listen to the instructions given to you by the tattoo artist.

  

• Make sure to keep the tattooed area bandaged up for at least 3 hours after getting the tattoo. Everybody’s skin is different in texture, skin sensitivity varies from person to person, so make ensure discuss this with your tattoo artist when he or she is given you aftercare tips. Remember never use the same bandage, seriously you’d me amazed what people do to save a buck.
• When you are comfortable taking off your bandage, wash your new tattoo with gentle soap and under running water. Gently wash off the surface of your skin with your fingers.
• Using a clean paper towel, dry the area by simply patting the skin with the paper towel. Avoid using cloth because it can carry certain bacteria that can react with your skin.

• Make sure to ask your tattoo artist on what creams to use, which would be the best for your skin type.  Cream will ensure that your skins heals much faster.  Use the cream by applying it to the skin for at least 3 days.  By doing this, it will moisturize the skin an act as a disinfectant.
• After the third day switch to a light lotion.  There are tattoo aftercare lotions in large drugstores.  These lotions should be mild that are additive and perfume free.  These lotions ensure the tattoed area stays moist.
• Stay out of the sun.  You should make sure that you limit sun exposure to your tattoo durinf the first 7 – 10 days.  After a few weeks start using a good sunblock, this will ensure that your tattoo doesn’t fade away at a much quicker rate.
• Its okay to shower with a new tattoo. Howev
  er, do not bathe, soaking your tattoo for a long period of time can overmoisturize the tattooed area.  Avoiding swimming for a couple of week is also a good idea.
• After a few weeks, skin may begin to peel off.  This is common and happens because the skin is going through a healing process.  When this occurs, do not touch that area.

  

• Wearing loose fitting clothing is always a good idea.
• If there is any swelling, use cold treatment like ice packs on the affected area.  This would calm inflamed skin.

Who Is Kokopelli?

Kokopelli is nothing new. In fact, this little hunch-back flute player has been around for centuries and his legend lives on today. Those who know him, know that he stands for the universal symbol of fertility deity for all life. Kokopelli also is inclusive of hopes, dreams, crops and love and many Native Americans honor his symbols.

Some Native American Indian cultures, such as the Zuni and the Hopi tribes, view this fertility symbol and flute player as a God.

No matter if you live in the desert Southwest, live in another part of the country or perhaps have just visited Arizona, your chances of hearing about Kokopelli are quite good. This fertility deity icon God is seen just about everywhere. You will see his picture on countless items such as Native Indian pottery, automobile key-chains, glasses, t-shirts and other clothing, outdoor lights, various home decor, candles, and of course Indian jewelery and much more.

Some people believe that he would announce his arrival to the locals, by playing a flute as he traveled through, looking for women to impregnate, which made him well known for the fertility symbol that he represented. Some believe that he is carrying different items on his back in the pictures that are represented of this famous flute-player. One thing is for sure, though. You will always see Kokopelli with a humpback while playing his flute.

Kokopelli is known as the hunch back flute player and sometimes the deity flute player who, put mildly, had an infatuation for women. It was no secret that Kokopelli would do whatever he needed to do for him to have the opportunity to impregnate another woman.

A Few Tips For Preparing Surfaces For Airbrush Art

The first step for any airbrush art project is that of preparing the surface. Secondly, the type of surface will determine or rather define your entire project work. The prep work to the surface will take care that the paint sticks to the surface and that the airbrushed design is not disturbed by anything.

Material like natural fiber,t-shirts, sweatshirts, denim and others require washing so that it airbrush art cane be applied to it properly. The process of washing will remove any loose fibers and also take care of any shrinking prior to placing your airbrush art design on to the material. It is therefore essential to wash and properly dry your material before you perform airbrush art.

If you are planning to airbrush a leather surfaced item, then it is advisable to wipe it alcohol. This will remove any oily material from the surface of the leather. Otherwise oil can cause the paint to come unstuck. Make sure that all the leather has been wiped down and that the alcohol has dried before beginning. It is also necessary to apply a base coat of Opaque White first before you begin your actual airbrush design.

It is possible that you want to do airbrush art on a wood surface. If so, take the time to use sand paper and lightly sand the wood down by hand. It is recommended to use a hand floor sander for a mural on a wood floor. Always remember that your purpose is to only remove any rough areas from the surface of the wood. If the wood has been waxed or has a gloss coat then sanding this will remove this and allow for the paint to stick to the surface.

When using airbrush art skills for tattoos, it is necessary to rub alcohol on the skin so as to remove any oils from the skin and clean it. Otherwise natural oils present on the skin surface will prevent the airbrush paint from successfully sticking to the skin. This will cause the airbrush art tattoo to come off to soon. The use of talc powder after the design has dried will help to keep oil from building back up and thus still ruining the airbrushed tattoo.

Nails should be clean and buffed prior to beginning. Buffing the nails will give for a rougher surface for the paint to cling onto. Prior to actually airbrushing the nails, a base coat should be applied. It will serve two purposes. This base coat will help protect the nail from the paint and help the paint to adhere to the nail better.

If it a metal surface, it is important to wet sand the metal first. Wet sanding will give a rough grainy effect. This rough grainy effect will help the paint to adhere to the metal. Otherwise metal surface will retain its smoothness and prevent the paint from sticking on to it. Again do not forget to apply a base coat to the metal before you perform any airbrush art design work.

All this only tells that it is really important to prepare the surface comprehensively so as to make the paint stick firmly and properly and thereby make the entire process of airbrush art a success. This way you can rest assured that the paint does not look messed up and you can give full justice to a great airbrush design.

First off, take a look at local tattoo shops in your area and check them out.  Find out if the tattoo parlor is fully licensed and registered.  Check to see if they have their safety certificate up to date.  A safety certificate is important because you should only get a tattoo from an artist who takes customer’s safety and health seriously.

Just because your tattoo artist is fully licensed and has a safety certificate does not mean that they are perfect for you just yet.  Ensure they use fully sterilized needles and equipment at all times.  Make sure they always wear gloves and have a clean tattoo area and surface.  Make sure your tattoo parlor practices these safety requirement by asking and noticing their work before you get a tattoo.

Safety is paramount when selecting a tattoo shop but there are also other things to watch out for.  Choose an artist who can do the work you are thinking about getting.  Tattoo artists have varying skill.  Most can do tattoo designs that you pick out their tattoo design book or from the wall.  Some can do a design that you bring in yourself.  Make if you bring in a design that you found on the web, that the artist is confident that he or she can translate the design into a tattoo on your body.  Simply ask them, if they sound confident they can do it, go for it.

Lastly, if you are not confident in choosing your tattoo artist after following the above tips, another option is to ask some of friends who have had tattoos and ask them to recommend you to places that they have got tattoos.  In the end this is perhaps the most popular way on choosing a tattoo shop, the industry thrives on word of mouth advertising.  If your friends have good looking tattoos then you will probably have a great looking tattoo if you go to the same artist that they went to. Another tip, most artists take photos of client who have had intricate tattoos done, ask to see pictures of past clients, this usually put people in a comfortable position when finalizing there chose of an tattoo parlor

In summary, always take your time when selecting the right tattoo parlor, shop or artist.  Look for a professional who know what they are doing.  Ensure at minimum they at minimum follow health and safety rules.  More importantly, they have the skill to give you the tattoo of your dreams.

Tear Tattoos?

There has been much debate and confusion over “What Do Tattoo Tears” mean.  Well there are a number of ideas of what this tear tattoo means.  According to urbandictionary.com the original tear tattoo was first found in Australian prisons.  Kind of fitting since Australia was founded as an English penal colony.

Australian prisoners would forcibly place this tattoo on an inmate who was serving time, for being a sexual predator on minors (pedophile).  When an inmate was know to be incarcerated for this crime, other inmates would corner the pedophile and place the tattoo on the right eye, so that is very visible as there were on the left side of their cell.  This act was seen as proson justice and would be tollerate by most prisons.  This act is now very rare,in Australia today.

In the United States,  the meaning has changed quite differently over the years.  This prison theme with the tear was carried over to American prisons. At first it was introduced to show that the person was incarcerated in prison for killing someone.  This tear would symbolize remorse for that act, and usually get the tattoo after they had left prison.

During this time, outside of the prison world, some people got the tattoo for an entirely different reason. Although rare at the time, the tear tattoo represented the loss of a loved one, usually a wife or close family member.  This ink was supposed to symbolise remembrance and closure.

Another important factor with the tear drop tattoo, is if its colored in or just an outline of a tear.  If the tattoo is just an outline of a tattoo, then it represents that a friend was killed.  If a tear drop tattoo is colored in, than that means that your friend has been killed and that the wearer had avenged the friend’s death.

Now it has becoming a fad in pop culture, a number of celebrities have tear tattoos, like Lil’ Wayne and Amy Winehouse.
